John built a custom screen door for our sliding glass door and replaced the screens on our windows. We have used Screens Onsite for two projects. Screens look great, no mess, and no surprises in cost from the estimate. It was a fair estimate and we scheduled them to come out. Great! I got an online estimate which they adjusted a couple of times as I changed my mind about options. The gentleman who came out to the house was prompt, efficient, and v ery pleasant to work with. Company responded very quickly with an estimate, and scheduling was also very easy. Online estimate request process was very easy to use. The work was done unbelievably quickly and professionally. One of the spaces is oddly shaped and it looks as good as the others. They removed existing screening on my porch, built custom framed screens onsite and installed them. They were very professional and friendly. Prices were fair and saved me a ton of time hassling with the screens on my own. He even went out of his way to re-position the furniture that had been moved out of the way for easier access to the windows. He carefully popped out my window screens, took them back outside, and then re-installed them in less than an hour. I was able to get an estimate just by answering a few simple questions online, and scheduling an appointment was a breeze (email confirmation included). Sags and wrinkles are about as attractive on screen doors as they are. Hold the screen taut across the frame as you roll it into place. Hold the roller at a 45-degree angle toward the inside edge of the groove and then roll downward to press the screen into the groove. Then drill four pilot holes through the wood filler (to prevent it from cracking). Position the new door closer bracket on the jamb according to the instructions. The sides of the screen must be close enough to the doorframe to prevent insects from passing through.This is one of the best experiences I've had with ANY home repair/service call. Press the screen into the groove using the convex end of the splining roller. Chuck in an extension and star-drive bit and run the two 3-in. Pull down the screen and check if it fits easily and securely. Make sure both hooks are level and positioned at the same vertical height from the floor. Screw on the hold-down hooks using a power drill or screwdriver. Put a screw in the hook hole and lightly tap it down with a hammer. Push it down towards the doorway bottom, then hold it in place. Place each hook flat on the side of the doorway. Install hold-down hooks at the two bottom corners of the doorway. (You can skip this step if you want to use the existing hold-down hooks) Mark the positions of the screen door and adjust the sidetracks to fit in the door opening by cutting or trimming the ends. Hold the new screen door at the top and snap it over the mounting clips. Step 8 - Attach New Roll Up Screen Door to the Mounting Clips The clip lips should face the door or power drill. Starting at the top of the doorway, attach the mounting clips along the top line with screws using a screwdriver. Locate the existing holes for mounting clips where the previous door was. (You can skip this step if you want to use the existing mounting clips) Take a screwdriver and screw the new door handle onto the door. 1/8 inch less than the door width is appropriate. Make an allowance for movement when trimming the door. Use a hacksaw to trim the new screen door to the required width. If in doubt ask the supplier to come and take the measurements themselves. Take the dimensions to your roll-up screen door supplier.īuy a new roll-up door that matches your specifications and measurements. Take measurements from both sides of the door opening. Measure the internal width of the door, starting from top to bottom. Take out the aluminum casing by removing the screws. Unscrew the hold-down hooks one at a time using a screwdriver. Unscrew the mounting clips one at a time using a screwdriver. (You can skip this step if you want to use the existing casing, mounting clips, and hold-down hooks) Step 3 - Remove Mounting Clips and Casing Release the valence clips from the top rail at both ends. Unsnap the screen door from the mounting clips and hold-down hooks. Remove the screen by following the manufacturer’s instructions. If both the screen and casing are damaged, you will want to replace both.
